The Wayne County Public Defender Office has had opportunity to use Aguirre Language Services in a variety of ways and have always been impressed by the professionalism, accuracy and reasonable cost of their work. We have had hundreds of confidential client meetings with Carlos interpreting in our office, at various jails around Western New York and even other locations off site. Carlos is reliable, treats our clients with respect and makes sure they are able to understand the complicated things we have to discuss with them. When we have used Carlos in a courtroom setting he is able to use technology and simultaneous interpretation in most cases to ensure a speedy and accurate interpretation. We have also utilized ALS’s translation services for legal documents and correspondence. They were able to meet our needs in a timely and professional manner. I have been utilizing Carlos’ language services for approximately two and a half years. He is by far the best interpreter I have ever worked with. He responds immediately to requests, does his best to make himself available at a convenient time for my clients and I, and he provides quality interpreting services. He takes his profession very seriously and it is apparent. His ability to interpret while I am speaking helps to move meetings and court appearances along at a very efficient pace, it eliminates that delay that often occurs with other language service providers who wait for someone to finish talking before interpreting. In addition he utilizes technology to his and my advantage by providing clients with headphones and he has a microphone that he speaks into. When we are in court this is extremely useful because it eliminates the distractions that can occur having multiple people talking at once. Our investigative firm has used a number of outstanding translation services over the years but what sets Aguirre Language Services apart from others is how unobtrusive their method is. Carlos Aguirre uses an electronic system where the person who he is translating for wears a set of headphones, while Carlos wears another set of headphones with a microphone. As the interview progresses, Carlos is constantly speaking softly into his mic, translating what is being said. It is a far cry from past methods where you would say a sentence - wait for it to be translated to the interviewee - and then wait for a response. The method Carlos uses provides for an almost seamless conversation. This in turn is more conducive to obtaining needed information. As an aside, Carlos is very personable and easy to work with. We would highly recommend his services.
